Keep Your Zucchini Plant Producing
How can I get more zucchini? I always seem to have just a few baseball bat sized fruit?
Regular harvesting of small fruit will result in a larger harvest. Visit your garden several times a week. You will be amazed at how quickly that tiny zucchini can develop into a baseball bat sized fruit. Pick zucchini when they are 6 to 8 inches long. Pick the patty pan summer squash when they are about 3 inches in diameter. When the large zucchini form and seeds mature the plants have achieved their goal to reproduce. So they slow down or stop flowering and fruiting. Regular harvesting of smaller fruit keeps the plant in the reproductive mode. You will quickly find the more you pick the more the plant will produce.
