Harvesting Watermelon
I’m growing watermelon for the first time this year. When it is ready to harvest?
Check the seed package to find out when the variety of watermelon you planted should be ready to pick. It will say x number of days from planting until harvest. Growing conditions can lengthen or shorten the actual time to harvest. Watermelons are ready to harvest when they reach full size, turn a dull color and the spot laying on the ground turns from a greenish-white to cream. The tendrils closest to the melon will also curl up and turn brown.
