Harvesting Garlic

When is garlic ready to be harvested? I planted cloves last fall. The plants are still nice and green.

Harvest garlic when the tops start to brown. This is usually in August or September. Remove any seedpods as soon as they develop. This allows the plants to put all their energy into the bulb (developing garlic). Dry in a warm location. Remove the dried leaves and store in a cool dry location.
