Growing Sweet William

I have sweet Williams in my Monticello, Indiana garden and want to know if I cut off the blossom or leave one to make it multiply. I can’t buy them in the stores anymore, so I don’t want to lose them.

As you know, sweet Williams are biennials.  The plants have leaves only the first season, flower and die the second season.  Allowing several flowers to set seed will keep the plants coming back.  The seeds will sprout, form a rosette of leaves the first season and flower and die the next.  Some gardeners save a few seeds to sprinkle in the garden every year to insure they have flowering plants each season.
