Growing Purple Coneflower from Seed
I often admire the purple coneflowers growing in my neighbor’s yard. Can you grow these flowers using seeds from the cone tops?
Yes. Most gardeners growing purple coneflowers are happy to share the offspring of these prolific seeders. Collect seeds in fall and sow in a prepared garden space or store the seeds in the refrigerator over winter. Place the seeds in an opaque container or in an envelop inside an airtight container. Stored seed can be started indoors or directly outdoors in spring. Be patient you won't see flowers until the second season.
