Growing Mockorange

I’m trying to learn a little more about a spring blooming shrub I have growing in my yard. My neighbor told me it is a Mockorange.

The sweet fragrance gives this plant its common name mockorange. These shrubs known botanically as Philadelphus flower on the previous season’s growth so wait until just after the blossoms fade to prune these plants. Regular renewal pruning (removal of one third of older stems to ground level) will keep this plant looking good. Northern gardeners should select cultivars such as Glacier and Minnesota Snowflake that have hardier flower buds. All mock oranges prefer full sun to light shade and prefer moist well-drained soils but will tolerate a fairly wide range of soil conditions.
