Growing Hens and Chicks in Zone 5

I received a beautiful hens and chicks plant in a planter for Mother's Day. I'd like to put them in my garden, but the info sheet gives very little information. I live in zone 5 and wondered if they would survive in the garden in our winters?

Hens and chicks (Sempervivum tectorum) are hardy in zones 3 to 8. Plant them in areas that receive full sun and have well-drained soils. These low growing perennials prefer it hot and dry. This makes them good choices for rock gardens, dry wall, and droughty locations. When grown in the proper conditions it will thrive with little or no pest problems.
