Growing Butterfly Bush in Wisconsin

Do butterfly bushes do well in Wisconsin?

These summer blooming beauties, also known as Buddleia, are hardy to zone 5. This means they usually survive in southeastern Wisconsin but have been known to survive in protected areas to the west and north of there. Butterfly bushes do die back to ground level each winter. Prune back the plants several inches above the soil line in late winter. Then wait for your plant to grow and flower and the butterflies to appear.
