Growing a Lawn with Dogs

I have dogs that destroy the grass faster than I can get it growing.

Try confining your dogs to one part of the lawn while you get the grass established in the other areas. Use one of the grass seed mixes designed for play or heavy use areas. These mixes contain perennial rye for quick establishment and recovery for these types of situations. Repeat the process until the lawn is fully established. Early to mid May and late August through mid September are the best times to seed a northern lawn. If this isn't feasible consider mulching the areas that receive the greatest wear? Woodchips will create a good environment for nearby trees, prevent soil erosion, add nutrients and keep yours and the dogs feet from getting muddy when it rains.
