Grow a Sound Barrier

Are there any plants I can grow in front of my fence to create a sound barrier?

Evergreens are the traditional choice. Arborvitae and Juniper provide year round privacy and sound buffering in a fairly narrow space. Select the cultivar that fits the space available. Consider planting some ornamental grasses in front of the evergreens for additional insulation. These plants provide added sound insulation summer through late winter, nice foliage, flowers, and good winter interest against the evergreens.
