Fuzzy Mold On Top of Potting Soil

We brought several plants indoors this fall.  The soil developed almost a fuzzy mold or fungus on the top.  Any ideas on what we could/should do?

Start by scraping the mold off the soil surface.  You can add a layer of fresh potting mix if needed.  Water thoroughly but less frequently to encourage deep rooting and to avoid soggy soils that can contribute to the mold.  If the mold returns increase the light reaching the plant and the soil surface.  Sanitation should be enough to keep this problem under control.
