Flower Beds Filled with Paint Chips
It was time to paint my house and the results for my flowerbeds have been tragic. They are now filled with paint chips. Once the painting is done, what do you recommend I do with all of the paint chips in the soil?
It is always a struggle to keep the house and landscape both looking good. Start by reading the label on the paint can to see if there are any warnings about plant sensitivity. Most new paints have been developed to minimize their impact on the environment. Brush the chips off the plants and into a container for disposal. Scoop up and remove any large piles and then freshen up the area with a new coat of mulch. For those just starting a painting project, tarp your planting beds to keep them paint free and make clean up easier. Avoid plastic tarps that can heat up quickly and cook the plants you are trying to protect.
