Deformed Growth

My sisters & I were wondering if anyone has ever seen this before. It looked like all the stems were fused together.

The flattening of stems and proliferation of flower buds on your daylily is due to fasciation. This physiological disorder (change in plant growth) causes flattening of stems, proliferation of buds and blooms and even two headed flowers. The strange growth pattern is just the plant’s response to the environment and nothing to be concerned about. In fact breeders propagated fascinated plants to introduce fantail willow, crested celosia and other interesting plant varieties. So relax and enjoy the show.
