Cat Used Ficus as Litterbox

My cat decided to use my large Ficus tree as a litter box.  Now, it stinks!!  Of course watering it makes the smell even worse for that day.  The whole tree is about six feet tall, and is cumbersome to move, but not impossible.  Is there a way I can "clean" the soil in the pot?

I have cats and have had a similar problem.  I mulched my large plants with cedar chunks.  It discouraged them from digging and using the large planters for their litter box and helped trap the smell.  Or try adding some activated charcoal, available at some garden centers and pet stores, to the soil.  This should help absorb the smell.  You may still want to mulch the soil to discourage future problems.
