Burning Bush is a Wildlife Favorite

Will deer leave burning bushes pretty much alone if we plant them in our backyard? There are plenty of apple orchards and cornfields in our area.

Deer will eat anything if they are hungry enough and it is convenient for them to eat. Rabbits and voles are an even bigger concern for burning bush - they are candy to them. If you do plant, consider a winter barrier of hardware cloth around your new shrubs. Be sure to anchor it several inches into the soil to deter animal pests from crawling under it. Also try using commercial repellents. Always read and follow label directions when using. Try mixing in a few scare tactics as well to keep the animals away.
