Best Time to Plant Hollyhock Seeds
Is it better to plant hollyhock seeds in the spring or fall?
Most garden hollyhocks are short-lived perennials that are treated like biennials. Take your planting cue from nature. Plant the perennial hollyhocks directly outdoors in summer when the seeds are ripe (2-3 weeks after flowering). Leaves will sprout that summer. These will grow into flowering plants the following season. Spring planted hollyhocks will not bloom until the second season after planting. Start annual hollyhock seeds indoors in early spring for summer blooming plants.
