When should I fertilize my houseplants?
This depends on the type of plant, potting mix used, and the
amount of light the plant receives. Check specific requirement for the
individual plant. In general it is
best to stop fertilizing houseplants between November and March because the
decrease in light slows plant growth and less nutrients are needed. Plants receiving lots of natural or
artificial light can be fertilized year round. Let the plant's health and growth be your guide. Most gardeners tend to overfertilize. If in doubt, err on the side of less
fertilizer - you can always do an additional fertilization later, if needed.
