Every spring my creeping phlox looks great. Then as the flowers fade the foliage starts to decline and the plant looks bad. Any suggestions?
Prune back the plants about halfway once they finish blooming. This stimulates new green compact growth and often a few additional flowers. Older plants will get leggy and less attractive over time. Regular division every three or so years will help keep the plants looking good.
