Planting and Care
Philodendron is a tough plant that is usually killed with kindness and prefers a little benign neglect. Allow soil to dry between waterings. Never let plants stand in water. Fertilize with a diluted houseplant fertilizer. Repot any time of year. Propagate by cuttings or air layering.
Problems
Brown tips can be caused by too much fertilizer or overwatering. Aphids, mealybugs, scale and spider mites are occassional problems. Keep philodendrons away from pets or children as this plant can be toxic if eaten.
Varieties to Consider
'Variegatum' - grey, green and cream streaked foliage
'Aureum' - chartreuse foliage
