2011_MGM_15_sitting_areasOn hot summer days this stand-alone patio situated in the shade of mature trees is the space to be. The round patio repeats the curves of the beds that outline the yard.

But don’t limit yourself. This cozy sitting area is right next to a busy street. They used evergreens to block the noise and create a bit of privacy.

Try perching a single bench on the edge of your front yard. What a great place to take a break and enjoy your handiwork.

And if life gets to be a bit much – find a quiet place. A natural planting and the sound of water create a great space to read a book.

A bit more information: Add some privacy and shade with a vine covered trellis or arbor. Plant a mix of annual and perennial vines for quick cover and yearly color. Use deciduous vines to let the sun shine in and warm sitting areas in spring and fall while providing shade during the hot summer months.
