Get a jump on the growing season by using a cold frame. Construct your cold frame using reclaimed wood and old window sashes or storm doors. Make the cold frame tall enough to accommodate the growing plants. The back wall is usually taller than the front for greater light penetration. If possible, face the front of the cold frame toward the south for maximum light and solar heat and the back against a building for added insulation. Cold frames are a great way to harden off indoor grown seedlings.
