Convert empty two liter soda bottles into a mini terrarium. Simply cut off the bottom of the bottle leaving three inch sides. Fill the bottom two inches with a well-drained potting mix. Find a small tropical plant you started yourself, received from a friend or purchased at the garden center. Add a pretty stone, ceramic creature or other favorite item that tolerates moisture and humidity. Water just enough to moisten the soil. Cut vertical slits into the cut end of the top portion of the bottle. This allows you to crimp the end so it will fit securely into the bottom section. Put the cover in place and move your mini terrarium to a bright location out of direct sunlight. Vent the terrarium by removing the cap if condensation forms and persists on the inside of your terrarium. |
