Creating a Home for Birds |
|
Increase the bird population and decrease insects attacking your garden and landscape. Birds not only provide natural beauty for the eyes and ears, they also provide natural insect control. Furnishing nesting material along with providing an inviting habitat, complete with food and shelter, for birds can eliminate your need for pesticides while increasing your backyard enjoyment. Leave or create some natural spaces within your landscape. Allow plant thickets to develop and twigs and leaves to collect on the ground. You will soon find birds picking through these areas for nesting materials. Supplement these with a few additions of your own. Create piles of twigs and straws and dry grass. Stuff fluffy materials like wool and shredded paper into suet feeders or crevices in trees. Then watch the construction begin.
